We have some exciting changes taking place from 1st July. A summary of these changes are listed below:
1. Reduction of notice period for an absence
We are trialling the reduction of the notice period to mark an absence from 24 hours to 2 hours notice in order to access a make up.
The number of makeups being accessed is higher than ever and we anticipate that they will continue to grow. We do stress that this reduced notice period is a trial, and we will continue to monitor its affects to ensure makeups remain accessible. Please keep in mind that ability to access a makeup is dependant on others marking an absence, so the more notice you can provide, the better.
Please visit MyPortal to manage your class attendance.
2. Update to the program
Each year we review our curriculum to ensure we deliver the best possible swimming program. As part of our most recent review, we will be introducing minor updates including the addition of ability appropriate safety skills such as treading water and survival freestyle. There will also be slight skill adjustments to improve student progression in the program.
As a result of the changes, the skills shown on the portal may not be an accurate reflection of your child’s current achievements. During this transition period our Pool Deck Coordinators will be assessing all students and the portal will be updated once an assessment has taken place.
As a final note, we would like to remind you that any child under the age of 16 is required to be supervised by a parent or guardian within the aquatic centre at all times. While we understand parking may be difficult at peak time we can not allow children into the centre unsupervised. Please arrive for lessons early to avoid any last minute rush. We do understand that drop off routines for kids can be stressful, however this does not excuse poor and/or aggressive behaviour towards staff.
We are looking forward to the changes come July 1st, as well as new initiatives taking place throughout the year. We welcome any feedback you may have, as we believe there is always room for improvement.
