Summer is here, and Georges River Council is encouraging families to get summer ready with a strong focus on water safety.
This week, Mayor Elise Borg visited Hurstville Aquatic Leisure Centre to mark Council’s summer water safety launch, see our swimming lessons in action, and highlight the importance of children and adults learning essential water safety skills as temperatures rise.
As part of Council’s ongoing commitment to a safer summer across the Georges River area, Mayor Borg reinforced the vital role that supervision, water awareness and swimming skills play in preventing accidents in and around water.
Top tips for a safer summer
- Always supervise children near water
- Keep pool gates and latches securely closed
