Introducing Healthstin’s Staying Active program
Healthstin are now offering brand NEW classes – Staying Active.
What is the Staying Active Program?
The Staying Active program is a program dedicated to those people over the age of 50 years old. Each program is personalised by an Exercise Physiologist in a group setting and is tailored to your needs.
Why should you join a Staying Active class?
The Staying Active program has many benefits, some of them being:
- Build your community – These classes are done in a group setting, meaning you’ll have that little extra support!
- Improve your fitness through exercise chosen solely to support your goals.
- Reducer risk of chronic diseases.
- Build strength – Through building up stress you will also remove other fears, such as avoiding falling over.
- Increase quality of life.
- Better manage your health – Create a routine to help remove any of those pesky habits.
Don’t just take our word for it, hear from some of our members today…
Meet Evgenia, 63 years old.
Q: What motivated you to sign up for the classes?
Evgenia: I was having mobility problems and back pain, and decided to do something about it…apart from visiting doctors.
Q: What have you enjoyed most about the classes?
Evgenia: I have greatly enjoyed the feel of the water, how easily I move in it and doing something for myself. I have also enjoyed being with the other ladies in my class.
Q: What improvements have you seen in your health and well-being since joining the classes?
Evgenia: My mobility and balance have improved and this has increased my confidence out of the water as well.
Q: What are your other comments about the program?
Evgenia: The instructors are caring and supportive.
Meet Marilyn, 70 years old.
Q: What motivated you to sign up for the classes?
Marilyn: Firstly, I was searching for something like this when I moved to Sydney after COVID restrictions were relaxed. I then came across the Staying Active classes on Facebook. One hour a week (Staying Active classes) wasn’t enough to get a bit of flexibility back into my body so I joined the Arthritis classes as well after one of the ladies in our class (Lyn) told me about them.
Q: What have you enjoyed most about the classes?
Marilyn: The pool sessions are my favourite, however I don’t underestimate the power of the stretch and balance class as well.
Q: What improvements have you seen in your health and well-being since joining the classes?
Marilyn: More flexibility in my upper body and less of an aching back have been my benefits.
Q: What are your other comments about the program?
Marilyn: I enjoy the social aspect as well since I don’t have a ‘village’ here in Sydney.
Meet Chris, 76 years old.
Q: What motivated you to sign up for the classes?
Chris: I knew I needed to exercise and I was no longer self-motivated as I had been. When I heard about the classes at Bexley North through Arthritis NSW I took up the challenge.
Q: What have you enjoyed most about the classes?
Chris: I enjoy the friendliness and the care given by the knowledgeable instructors.
Q: What improvements have you seen in your health and wellbeing since joining the classes?
Chris: I have definitely seen positive improvement in my balance and strength.
Q: What are your other comments about the program?
Chris: Thank you for all you do, and at a price that I can afford.
